We're off to New Orleans for the Taste of the NFL. Thanks to everyone who supported our Road to the Superbowl tailgate event last weekend. Through your efforts we were able to raise $1,500 for the Taste of the NFL. Donations from this event helps support food banks and hunger related issues nationwide. Join Summer Kitchen Saturday and Sunday January 19th & 20th as we prepare for our trip to the Super Bowl to represent the Oakland Raiders at the Taste of the NFL. We are featuring our tailgate favorites in support of Second Harvest Food Bank. Summer Kitchen will donate proceeds from this menu and match all additional donations for the Taste of the NFL as we celebrate the road to the Superbowl. Summer Kitchen has been selected to represent the Oakland Raiders at the 22nd annual Taste of the NFL. This Super Bowl event brings together chefs and former NFL greats, representing every NFL team, for an all- star evening of amazing food, wine and music. This "party with a purpose" tackles the challenge of hunger relief in America by raising awareness and money for local programs. Much of the proceeds from the event return back to our local community including the Alameda County Community Food Bank.

Join us on Sunday, September 9 at 4:00 p.m. for a special book signing event with author Cheryl Sternman Rule, photographer Paulette Phlipot and their new cookbook Ripe: A Fresh, Colorful Approach to Fruits and Vegetables. We'll begin at here at Summer Kitchen for a tasting menu of small plates inspired by the book. Then we'll move to Mrs. Dalloway's where Cheryl and Paulette will give a special talk and sign books. The event will close with a photography exhibit and wine reception at Collector.
The cost is $35 per person / $55 per couple and includes a signed copy of the cookbook, tastings, the talk, photography exhibit and wine reception. Tickets are availble at Mrs. Dalloway's or by calling 510.704.8222. Space is limited, reserve your spot soon.

We're excited to be in the final phase of our long awaited expansion project at Summer Kitchen. In order to complete our project we will be closed from Monday July 2nd through Wednesday July 4th. We will open at 10 am on Thursday July 5th. We look forward to reopening with a new customer restroom, expanded seating and the additon of beer and wine later this summer! Thanks for your support!
